Challenge #69 for the Squirrel and the Fox - Mother's Day

Welcome to the latest challenge for The Squirrel and The Fox, this fortnights theme is:

MOTHERS DAY

This fortnights sponsor is Doodle Pantry

and they are offering one lucky winner a $10 gift certificate to spend in their store!

They also supplied us with images and I chose this set called Bird Mothers.

It comes with several images and sentiments and also includes some digi papers, and so, for the first time ever, I printed out two digi papers onto SU Whisper White A4 card. WOW they are lovely. The blueish one in particular has a real pearly look to it.

This card was made from seeing something similar but not quite in a magazine, and by trial and error making my own up. It required me to 'rock and roll' the die in the Big Shot and try not cut too far. The die I used is the SU Starburst Circles.

The back is about 10 cm wide and has two strips either side which were folded in to be glued to the front piece. The front piece was about 8 cm wide and had a flap on the bottom glued to the back of the back! I printed off the two sheets of digi card and used the same die to die cut the strip and then just glued it to the back.

The sentiment is from the same sheet of stamps - such good value for $2.50! I ran around the edges of my insert with a Copic marker, and added a button and ribbon threaded through as a pull, and used a small circle stuck to the back to strengthen it.

The bird image was fussy cut and coloured with Copics and the branch is one of my favourite things from MFT Dinamics lately! You will be seeing more of it! I do love it even if it is a bit fussy to work with as you have to add all the leaves if you want them green. I suppose I could die cut it in white and colour it in.......anyway, it has two little birdies sitting under the nest irl, but I just wanted my birds and nest to show. The digi paper on the front piece is the pearly one! The card is a piece of blue Bazzil.

I don't have a Mum or a MIL anymore to hand this to, but there are lots of lovely Mum's out there who I know will not get a card for a variety of reasons so this one will be donated to the cause.

EDIT: Sorry this is late - £$!!%^ Blogger!!!

Another great idea Susan. Think you could use fancy cut scissors for edging of circle too. What do you think? Like the button and thread idea......something different to a brad or eyelet......not thought of that. More crafty ideas. I love your blog....can you tell lol Hugs Wynn xxx
