Challenge #35 for Unstampabelles - A Special Person

Welcome to Week three of the current challenge for May over at Unstampabelles.

This challenge is all about making a card for a very special person - the TWIST for this challenge is to document who and why this person is special to you in your blog. Our Sponsor for this is our own Beth at Huggies Crafts (on our DT) who is offering a

$15 voucher at Blue Edge Crafts

The sad news is that Beth will be leaving us at the end of the month, having spent a long time on the Unstampabelles team. She will be greatly missed. The good news is that there is a DT call over at Unstampabelles - why not go and read the deets and see if you can fit!

My project is a tag rather than a card. And seeing that Mother's Day is over now, I went for a different take on a Special Person. One of my family is now caring for a partner who has been diagnosed with dementia and while I probably will not send this to him, I wanted to mark the story and create a piece that signifies my admiration of what a Special Person he is - and he is one of many out there who have similar lives I know, as carers for loved ones; so I guess it is for all of them as well.

I used lots of Tim Holtz paints, and some various masks, and ephemera. I also used a  round, plastic tag off some purchase of clothing or shoes - not sure which - that was laying on the desk.

The image is from an ad in a magazine (not sure what for) which I appropriated by placing some packing tape over the image, and soothing the air out from behind the image and then putting it in water for a while. Gently rub off the baking and the image remains on the sticky side of the tape. I placed this on a scrap of cream card before using it in the tag.  I thought the image was appropriate as my relative is being a leader and a soldier, and showing great courage in his daily struggle.

Easter chocolates were delivered in a small box from a chocolatier tie up with the lovely  rust coloured cord which just suited the tag. I added a clock charm and a TH ticket, and a small postcard and called it quits.

So, my tag in honour of a Special Person indeed.
I will enter this in the following:

Pile It On: shabby chic - closes 24th May
