A quick Tag for Unstampabelles Challenge #81

The challenge at Unstampabelles ends at midnight on Friday 28th July.
Here is a quick tag to add to the DT work.

Before I show you the rest of it, here is another type of edge - the top of a mountain and the edge of the road that goes to the top! We are mid-winter here of course and yes, there has been some snow on top of kuyanyi/Mt Wellington but not much elsewhere. This is looking a bit north of us, further up the River Derwent towards Bridgewater. I would say it is about sunset.

Now, back to the tag.....

Two tags really. The top one has been embossed and had a border embossed onto it and then fussy cut around the edge.

Some foliage, a flamingo and a Kaiser sentiment die cut from Mossy Meadow (SU)
The tag had also gone through a music embossing folder
Some sequins and string and it was done!

Happy Crafting!

Circles and Stripes for Crafting with Dragonflies this challenge!

Warning: Long Post

Hello

I hope the school holidays are drawing to an enjoyable close for those of you in Australia and that the summer is continuing to provide all you wish for it if you come from the northern part of this world.

It is indeed a strange idea to think that people from all over the world are reading these words penned by myself (well, typed if you wish to be factual). I know this because of the many comments I have gotten over time from all around the planet. It also does seems to me strange indeed that we can communicate in a pleasant way and encourage each other on our crafting journeys and yet our world leaders seem to be at each other's throats! Perhaps we should parcel up some crafting materials into a starter kit and post them off to various individuals to have a go at creating something enjoyable and pretty and relieve their stress levels at the same time. They might then talk to and about each other in a nicer tone! Now, what might Mr Putin like? Ms May perhaps would like some multi media stuff? Mr Trump's parcel would have to be stuff to make a scrap page of himself with lots of gold bits and sparkle. Our two gorgeous males, Mr Macron and Mr Trudeau would perhaps like to make some lovely cards for each other........or for their wives!

All suggestions welcomed!

I have been watching the video's from the very talented Jenny McGuire
Have you found her yet?

She was playing with the idea of stained glass and the recreation of the effect using our various mediums and so I started to pay around as well. I wanted to see if I could do it without using a stamp. I used Pinterest of course and discovered there is a whole world of beauty under stained glass plus free patterns!!! I chose one and used it as a guide to create my design using circles and stripes.

Why circles and stripes?
Well, Hilde wants us to make something using these for her latest challenge at

I then ran around the lines with my VersaMark pen and embossed with a fine gold EP
and coloured the spaces in using my Copic pens.

As the shapes are freehand, the edges are not crisp and so it has a bit of a wonky look but I just decided I liked it!

I then tried to fill in the gaps with SU Crystal Effects
Now, at this stage I had a very loud and persistent kitten demanding dinner and so I may have rushed this bit trying to finish it off in one go and the next morning I found I had missed a complete coverage. One of the problems with filling in a large area - I will know better next time!

Once it was dry I just added a die cut sentiment in gold and some washi tape on the edges and mounted it onto black card.

You can see how badly I added the Crystal Effects!

I looks Ok really despite the errors.

I had tried a similar thing before this one using a die cut from SU.
I was a bit lumpy bumpy when complete.

This one I lightly traced the petal shapes with pencil onto spare card through the die and coloured with these with Copics, Then I die cut out the three flower heads and two leaves into the white card and then again from silver and inserted the silver into the space. After aligning the coloured bits behind and gluing into place (why it is lumpy bumpy) I added the Crystal Effects to each segment.

The stem is freehand

Can you find the petal I missed colouring?

The sentiment is a run-on.

I like the effect but it is a lot of trouble to make.
You would have to pick your diecut carefully

Anyway - experiment or just play

It's been an interesting week.....

Have you have those week when you wonder what each day will bring? There is always something different happening in my world but last week was a bit more stressful than the usual. However, we made our way through it and have arrived at the start of a new week so SUCCESS!

At Unstampabelles we are entering our third week of the July challenge

Fancy Frame or Border

Twist - How edgy can you be?

I made another card for this:

I got to use up some washi tape on the front
The fancy edges are cut from a gold shimmer card
The sentiment is a rub-on

The prima flower and several leaves are from the stash

The sentiment tag opens up to swing back the arms and show the inside
where I used a scrap of SU DP

My card inside comes from a set of cards purchased earlier this year from
Secret Garden - Reasons to be Joyful

It was chosen because the colours matched but I quite like the message too

We all think we should be happy all the time but I think we should experience happiness sometimes and the rest is trying to create an atmosphere where it may fleetingly visit.

Close up of the closure

Off you go to Unstampabelles  to visit and perhaps enter!

Now, an edge of a different kind.......

More Frames and Borders for Unstampabelles

The challenge at Unstampabelles is to  use a (some)

Fancy Frame(s) or Border(s)

Twist - How edgy can you be?

Prize (random number draw)

You can also use both a frame and a border!

I decided to make a scrap page after I found some old photos this week.

I live on the edge of a river which is running into a sea on the bottom of the world. The river is in an island, which has borders or edges as a result of that sea. Across the river from me is a mountain - one of the few places in the world where a city has grown up at the foot of a mountain next to a river.

Because this island is in the Southern seas it experiences an occasional cold front that comes directly from Antartica. Today is cold, wet and windy and there is some snow on the top of the mountain but it is not as cold as it was in 1986, when we got an Antartic blast of mega proportions and it snowed to sea level and stayed there for a day.

I had seven photo's so used five on the front

(I have decided since taking these shots to put the two unused ones inside the notes page)

I used my Christmas edge dies and icicle dies to make and edgy edge!

I'm not that happy with it - I started off with something else in mind and ended with this.

Hope you can make something with a border and/or an edge

This Little Piggy......

....believed she could!

Earlier in the piece SU put out  a stamp set called This Little Piggy
As soon as I saw it I had to have it

So, it has sat on my shelf for all this time and only used for the first time for this card!!!

Who else does that?

Hilde at Crafting with Dragonflies has asked for a card with ANIMALS
so this was the chance to use my little piggies!

Out came the stamps and the Copic pens......

The background is a piece of card that has been floating about for a while, used to mop up some spritzing and paint and stuff.....

Some careful fussy cutting and pop ups and a mount

Inside I continued the theme but more muted....

Looks like I need to retrim the right hand mount....

There you have it

We are having a rainy, snowy, cold winter's day with a touch of sunshine
Thought this view would suit....almost looks like a painting
Something else believing it can - so it does!

Snowing as I'm walking ❄️😊❄️! Such a beautiful experience. Love this tree and it's intriguing roots .... wondering what's holding it upright !!

Challenge #81 at Unstampabelles: Fancy Frames and Borders

The twist is to be edgy!

We all have those gorgeous border dies floating in our stash or beautiful embossing folders with fancy frames or diecuts with fancy edges

Get them out and play!!!
I am going to have so much fun with this challenge

Remember, at Unstampabelles there are NO STAMPS to be used

For the first week I made a card but you can make anything really as long as you follow the theme and twist and it is a paper-based craft.

I saw several people on Pinterest had used a leaf die to create a border so I  tried it  - I only used  a single leaf die (from SU's new Stylish Stems set) and a sentiment die from Memory Box.

These two colours are two new ones also from Stampin' Up
These are returning to the collection - Mossy Meadow and Flirty Flamingo
I cut and glued these  two sheets together to create a duel mount and then die cut along the join line five times with my leaf die. I used the three complete leaves under the flowers later. I initially cut five leaves to insert into the left-over spaces and then cut another two from the same new Granny Apple Green card stock for the flowers . I also cut the sentiment from this.

I layered the mount onto a white card base.
I also used a white pen to create another border.

I added some Tara flowers and the aforementioned leaves.

The bottom photo was taken in the shade and it changed the whole colour scheme!
The first three are the better colours.

Here is another type of border for you

Red, White and Blue for Eclectic Ellapu!

Hello - as the new July Challenge at Eclectic Ellapu, Elaine has announced the theme is to be:

RED, White and BLUE

I made a card

Using washi  tape for the background
and adding a die overlay

I have several packets of these Australia buttons
so I was to glad to use one

This sentiment is a new one from Stampin' Up

The base is a commercial card (blue)

Simple to make really when you have the idea
It's a bit of a mash-up from stuff on Pinterest

The crisp winter mornings around here leave you looking a bit red, white and blue lately......

Sometimes you've just gotta take a minute to appreciate your surroundings. What a magic morning this was, on the edge of Devil's Gullet, in the Northwest of Tassie.
