It's back to a cold blue day, with snow on the higher points today, and this shot was taken (not by me) this morning on the west coast of Tasmania, at Queenstown. Such an interesting photo.
This month, the challenge at Unstampabelles is to see who can mix it up a bit and try a little bit of mixed media - with an additional theme to work with as well AND a twist to blog about your hero!
Mixed Media:A technique involving the use of two or more artistic media, such as ink and pastel or painting and collage, that are combined in a single composition.
For a beginner that might be embossing and/or using paint or ink to create a background or using pencils and ink, right up to collage work. There are many different ways to use mixed media in our craft. The image below is a project by a professional artist and the extreme edge of mm but it is so lovely as is all her work
This artist is Louise O'Hara
she uses paint, stencils, ink, paper, materials including lace, paste, and other items
to create pictures.

This is the prize on offer for June - two stencils
The theme is Who is Your Hero/Heroine?
We all have someone we look up to and admire. Create a mixed media item to celebrate your hero! Your hero may be your spouse or another family member, a national or international figure or indeed a fictional person.
So there you have it - my multi-media hero tribute.
You have a month to make your contribution - no stamps of course - and enter it at Unstampabelles
I will enter this in the following challenges:
The twist is to journal about it in your blog
My Hero in this piece is my Dad and all the other Aussie soldiers who went to war in the last two centuries. My Dad was in WWII and started of being sent off to fight in Syria and the fall of Damascus, before returning to Australia but being diverted before they made it back - to Jarva, where he and the rest of his friends were captured by the Japanese and sent to the Burma Railway POW camps for the next three years.
He survived or I would not be here telling you this - they were pretty amazing people.
I used ink, paint, white and black pens and found objects, Gelato crayons, paste and stencils and die cuts and glue to create a small canvas.
Badge purchased one ANZAC day in Canberra a few years ago - knew it would be useful one day!
Die cut poppies, with gems and black pen work
Texture paste coloured with TH ink - the stencil moved and got a huge mess so it's a bit scrappy
TH die cut of the Umbrella man minus his umbrella
So there you have it - my multi-media hero tribute.

Susan what a wonderful tribute. How those guys survived being captured is truly amazing. I salute your Father and his comrades. My father was WW11 and ended up helping little Malta with their fight to survive. All truly amazing guys!!! I love how you created the suns rays and the silhouette. Hugs Wynn x
