Challenge#34: Incorporate an Animal or a Bird
There is always a twist with this blog and the TWIST this month is to use predominantly PASTEL colours.
The sponsor for the challenge is Regal Craft based here in Tasmania, but in the northern part of the state and I live about two and a half hours away in the south. I get there occasionally! And they do a great job with mail although I must admit with a Granddaughter going to Uni there currently, she is often the courier!
It doesn't have to be an Easter card but I made one anyway!
This brad has been in my stash for so long and I was determined to use it up
I had a packet of two Kaiser wooden bunnies, so I painted one up and added some cotton wool to his bottom to create the bunny tail!
This diecut (Spellbinders) is so intricate but I used some wax paper and that helped. It is die cut from a scrap of paper left over from another project where I was playing with TH Distress Crackle paint and inks - this means the rushes have a lovely sheen and texture.
This is another Spellbinders die- and this one I didn't use the wax paper as I have used it a couple of times before, but it was tricky to get out as a result. Lesson learned! I have added some small bling here.
A strip of ribbon and a backing of SU So Saffron and it was done. The card behind is a commercial blank from Regal Craft, our sponsors. The background paper is a piece from Emma's Garden by Jennifer Ellory.
This photo was taken in the late afternoon sun.
OK, it's a simple card but they don't always have to be full of technique or layers and layers of stuff. I sometimes see cards with flowers added and think, why? They are not appropriate. So I didn't add anything more to this - it tells its own story. We currently have two resident rabbits - wild ones. Ones descendant from those imported from the Old Country when white settlement took place here in Australia because the English missed them! They can have them back! We don't mind! Our two seem to have been inbred with some Lopp Eared rabbit or similar that has been a pet and either escaped or was let go - there are many of it's kind hopping around on the local hill reserve behind the house. However, these two have adopted us apparently and can be seen in full daylight in the driveway or hopping along the concrete just outside my craftroom windows! Glad I didn't plant out the vegie garden last season but was going to do it soon - not too sure now!
They look a bit like this but their ears are longer and stand up quite tall, and their tails are really white. Wait.....maybe......they are EASTER RABBITS! A bit too early though....hopefully a car or a cat or a dog might find them irresistible!
