Hi there.....

Another card for a challenge - or three - and this one is for Aud Sentiments (use two words only); and Delightful Challenges ( buttons!) using a Mojo Monday #172 sketch.

I do love dragons, and this dragon is such a cheeky chappy - he is a Digital Delight digi, and I have coloured him with Copics and then fussy cut him out.  I used a piece of card I had already put through a Cuttlebug embossing folder, and then a Nestabilities scalloped oval to layer him and then another different piece of card which had gone through a different Cuttlebug folder underneath this. The stamps used are from Verve and embossed with white EP.  The bottom sheet is the rest of the paper I printed off using a freebie from Kristin Bueter at Colour Throwdown and the whole is on a piece of SU card.  The inside uses more of the blue Bazzil from the front of the card, and is also embossed with white EP and used Verve stamps.

I made this as well -you can never have enough of these hanging around, I find, as people ask for them.  Just a simple one -some scrap black/blue card and a die cut rectangle from a shirt label, which has had the bottom removed and the corners rounded again, and was layered onto SU Taken with Teal, with a brad added and some ribbon scrap. The bird is a peel-off - I am trying to use up old stash and stuff I have on my desk(s) that I thought was too good to throw out but then didn't use. The whole is layered onto a card made with folder SU Taken with Teal.  The sentiment is an SU one (Warmest Regards, retired I think), stamped in silver EP and Versamark.

Cheer Up, this is my 101 blogging.....

Painter's here today again.  The tiler has gone and he has left behind a wonderful job.  So pleased with his work. Meanwhile, it is cold again (snow at low lying areas today and tonight) and we are restricted to the craft room and the workshop - so sad (not!).

This is for a challenge with Auld Sentiments  - Challenge #11 "Cheer Up" and for Digital Delights "Make it Sparkle" (there are three pearls shining away there!).

I used a digital image from Digital Delight's (Lenny the Lion), and coloured it with Copics before I used a Cuttlebug and Nestabilities Labels 4.  The sentiment is from WMS ( Sayings) and the card used is from SU (Melon Mambo and Chocolate Chip).  There are also some Kaiser pearls. The base card is a piece of shiny Bazzil in an off white colour.

Sue (Tillymint) at A Consuming Passion issued a bit of a challenge the other day - using 3D decoupage from and gave this link here to find the images.  This is what  I created. The image is by Beci Brindley 2009. Again I used an embossing folder in the Cuttlebug, some bling and some scrap ribbon but the flower is printed on shiny white card and then fussy cut and layered up.  The whole is layered onto some SU Pacific Blue card and put onto a commercial blank. I loved Sue's card - hope this one is OK, Sue?

Happy Father's Day

To all the Dads out there.  Hope it's a good one - although if you live in Australia today, the chances are it will be a wet one! Poor Christchurch: no rain yet but an earthquake - such a pretty city to have such a horrible thing happen and so lucky that no-one was killed. My good wishes go out to anyone who comes from New Zealand and particularly to those from Christchurch.

Well, I have completed another card in between moving out of the kitchen and setting up a camp kitchen in the back bedroom. I am going to enter it in the Aud Sentiment Challenge #10 - to use the words 'Best Wishes' as a sentiment.  I saw this unusual fold card on someone's blog (cannot remember who) and decided to use it and to ink up some Waltzing Mouse Stamps for this.  I have been seeing people use WMS stamps to create background papers, so decided to do this using some scrap yellow spotty paper and the Picnic stamp set.

I chose the colours grey and yellow because Annabelle Stamps  has them as a "Say it in..." Challenge colour combo, so will enter this. My centrepiece uses another WMS  stamp from a set called Victorian Fripperie.  I highlighted the sections with some gold Smooch (lovely stuff) and sponged SU Apricot Appeal ink around the edges and in the middle, after I cut it out with a Nestability circle using the Cuttlebug. The background ink was SU Basic Grey and the circle was Memento London Fog. The card is Bazzil Grey.  The front edge was another scrap of yellow paper stamped with a  WMS Picnic stamp and I added three apricot stickles from Annabelle Stamps. Then some bright yellow ribbon, and a piece of stamped paper inside to complete the card.

Away in Melbourne

Well, we have been  in Melbourne for a week, visiting family and took the opportunity to go to the European Masters (19th-20th C)  Exhibition at the National Art Gallery in the city, while there - fabulous! We were so lucky to see these paintings which usually hang in the Stadel Museum in Frankfurt.  There are renovations going on in Germany and so we get to see them here in the antipodes!

Now, I have been home for several days and have made a few cards.  Here is one I am entering in the Annabelle Stamps Sketch Challenge, and the Aud Sentiments challenge - anything goes.

HOW?

Stamped image and sentiment, used circle punch to punch out sentiment; then inked edges of tree image with green and brown ink, and mounted on some orange scrap. Stamped the continuous sentiment onto the green card strip with brown ink, and used this as a ribbon beneath the image. Layered circle sentiment onto the circle die cut with a dimensional. Added the die cut scalloped edge to the LHS of image.  Mounted stamped strip, image and die cut circle onto the DP. This DP has an embossed feel and is quite luscious.  Added pearls

Here are some other images from our trip.  The first is a picture taken in Melbourne just outside the National Gallery, looking at some of the newer glass towers that have grown in South Bank lately. The second is taken up near Sylvan Dam and shows the two stone pillars that my husband (as a boy) and his father built at Calarama, at the beginning of their driveway to the holiday house, back in the late 1930's. They sold the home after WWII, and it was subsequently burnt down in a bush fire, but it has been rebuilt several times apparently.  But, the stone pillars are still there and my DH was quite excited to find them! We went for a drive up to the Dandenong's with a friend on Monday, and had lunch at Sassafras, and then headed of towards Calarama before returning home.

It Rained!

Finally! We got over three and a half inches or 8.8 cm of rain over 36 hours.  It is sunny now, however, and not too cold, with the occasional shower - and the bay is full of brown water from the run-off because the ground was so dry it couldn't soak in for a while, BUT we got enought to finally do some good and people on tanks got them full and much more. Almost no rain for one and a half months in winter is not fun.

I sponged the edges with the ink, and pricked out the edging.  The word is added with letter sickers. Annabelle Stamps gave me a packet of Sprinkles and they just suited it, so they got added at the last moment. The image is coloured with Copics. I used the following to make it:

Teach a Man to Fish.....

This photo was taken inside and so it is not a clear in colours as it should be - I have entered it for the Aud Sentiments Challenge #6 - No Sentiment!  Hopefully the word 'beer' is not classed as a sentiment.....

Here is what is inside!

                                                 

The stamps and sentiments come from There She Goes - LOL Taglines and the fishes come from I Break for Stamps - Best Fishes. The fisher comes from Stampscapes inc. - Fisherman in Boat. All relevant stamps are coloured with Copics.  The main image is sponged with SU Tangerine Tango ink and the inside sentiment also stamped with this.  The images were stamped with Memento black ink before colouring.  They were then layered - the fishes on the outside were stamped twice, coloured twice and then one lot cut out and layered over the other to give some dimention. The image is then layered on pale blue and then orange card stock scraps, and the whole is placed on top of a blue card whcih had been through the Cuttlebug embossing folder Bubbles, with a top green card.  The join was covered with a strip of orange card stamped with a WSM stamp from the Pic Nic set in SU Tangerine Tango. I added a blue brad and a metal anchor to the top right corner. All this is on a card made from SU Bashful Blue.

Now, what was that made of?

Now, what is that last card made from? Well, I used a scrap of background paper from SandyLion which I have had for a while ( and love because of the pretty muted colours); I used white Prima flowers, coloured with Copic Pens to match the Jena Fairy digi colouring. Notice how strong that pink is!!!  Now know to knock the colour back a bit I think when doing that - too strong.  I used my Stampin'Up jewel brads in the centre of the flowers; stamped a swirl from SU Baroque Motives and the heart from SU A Happy Heart in SU Wild Wasabi ink; and added some green pearls from Kaiser, I think. Layered up the heart, the digi and then all of it onto pink card and then used yellow for my base card - I also added some more of the SandyLion paper inside the card to complete it. Oh, and I highlighted one LOVE on the heart in a dark green Copic. Thank you Pam, for the digi. Cheers, folks.
