A New Family Member

We have a new family member - little Freddie! Named for his Great Grandfather, who is a lovely man - if he grows up to be like his Grandfather (my baby brother) or his namesake (maternal side) he will be a fine young man. He is the third Grandson for my brother now - the father of three girls - and he has one Grandaughter - they are all lovely kids (might be a bit biased) but a new baby is always special.

I love this saying and have a wonderful stamp from MFT with it - I have used a few times lately but this one time is my favourite one.

This is one of LOTV's gorgeous stamps - I used my Copics to colour it. Yes, more fussy cutting!

Everywhere I look on blogland and FB people have been making these new pop-up box cards, so I had a go - I went to SplitcoastStampers for my template and it made up very quickly and easily following their instructions. The card and DP I used come from Stampin' Up (Pacific Point) as did the ink for the stamps. The DP is double sided and so I used that for the inside back.  It was nearly dark outside when I took these photo's and it was posted the next day so I didn't get a chance to take any others, but the stamp at the back is also from LOTV.

I freehand cut the balloon and stuck the string to a strip of acetate before adding it to the box. The hearts (punched out) are also on acetate strips. The sides fold up and the card moves to either the left or right for storage and postage. It all lies flat. When opened the flaps fall down and the box shape is created, with the appearance of the floating bits in the middle - hence to pop-up! Clever eh! The balloon and hearts wiggle about a bit too.

These are my Copic colours used to colour the image - yes, all of those for one little boy!

I have avoided the obvious - that I have several (all right, quite a few) GREAT nephews and nieces, but that just  makes me a GREAT AUNT!! At least I am not a Great Grandmother yet!

Hopefully the parcel has arrived by now and I am not spoiling the surprise with this post!

Crafting with Dragonflies - Challenge # 26: One Year Old so Celebrate!

Yes, can you believe it - Crafting with Dragonflies in ONE YEAR OLD!

So, to celebrate, our challenge this fortnight is all about

CELEBRATION!

Our sponsors for this challenge  - all THREE - are

$10 for winner to spend in store (and they have yummy images, believe me)

Website Banner
$15 to spend in store (and currently, in May they gave a 50% off sale!)

Handmade Harbour
6 digi's for prize winner!

HOW GOOD IS THAT!

so, my card is all about CELEBRATION

It is a different fold - I think it is called a Z fold
(saw it in a magazine)

Die-namics die; TH dies; several (!) clocks and computer generated sentiment

and .....a MIC image, coloured with Copics and Smooch

...here 'tis......

....and again.....

Card is Kraft paper (grid) and lots of Tim Holts inks and over stamped with various stamps, and cut to fit.
Back image is on two small paper lifters to lift it away from the back slightly and allow it to lay properly between the folds. The image has been printed off on XPress Blending card.

I will enter this card in the following:
Die Cutting Diva's: Dimension - ends 20th May
Artistic Inspirations: Anything Goes/no DP - nope, created my own DP - ends 19th May
Through the Purple Haze: Anything Goes - for a Male - ends 17th May
The Male Room: a moving part - my clock is on a paper hinge and moves as the card is opened and shut - ends 27th May

Then, I used a Handmade Harbour image given to us to create this Birthday Card.  I added some Flourish with a Bling flourish too!

Printed off on XPress card and coloured with the trusty Copics.

I tried to stay a bit naive with my colouring and in the primary range to suit the stick drawing. So much fun, this image!

The top die is Joanne Sheen and the bottom one is a freebie from a magazine.

The flourish had been cut up (in a previous project) so I used it to emphasize the joy of the occasion!

All SU card except the banner and the greeting which are green glitter card.

A close up of the image and the sentiment

I will enter this card in the following:
2Cute Ink Digital Stamps: Glitter - ends 25th May
Paper Makeup Stamps: Sparkle - ends 19th May
Incy Wincy: Banners - ends 19th May

Now, there is some news from this Challenge blog - firstly, we have people moving on, and our lovely Judith from Poppy Cottage is moving on (sob, sob...I will miss her helpful advise and beautiful work); today is her last Challenge with us.  Along with some of our other girls who have left for family commitments, this leaves us a bit short-handed, so we are having a DT call.......
