Unstampabelles Final Week

Had one of those weeks when you need a sympathy card or two......

So, for Unstampabelle's final week of the June challenge

I used a piece of the new Stampin' Up Vellum DP and coloured up the back with Copics
I layered it with a frame onto a yellow piece - one of the new SU colours  - and a white card blank
A rub-on and some extra flowers completed it
My bling here is the pretty stained glass effect

Using Baker's Twine for Crafting with Dragonflies

Hello Peeps - welcome back to sunny COLD Tasmania!

What an interesting week it has been in the world. Winter solstice here in Tasmania with Dark Mofo and lots of food and wine and fun and controversy. Lot's of visitors too - some even human! This one wasn't though - so magnificent and so endangered. Look at the power in that lift.......

Ange Anderson has the perfect job for flaunting her talent and my oh my is she a fine photographer! Check this incredible shot out😍 Can you imagine how exciting it must have been to bear witness? The passengers on Pennicott Wilderness Journeys Tasman Island Cruise were treated to this very sight near Tasman Island today.

Bet that gets the creative juices flowing!
Good because Crafting with Dragonflies has a new challenge for the fortnight!

Hilde set us a task to use bakers twine on a card

I use it often but I wanted to use it in a different way for this challenge, so .....
...off to Pinterest!

I was obviously not the only one who wanted to use it in different ways as
I got some fabulous ideas there and combined two of my favorites to create my card

Firstly I used brads and gold twine to make a track across the background
and create a bit of backgroundinterest

I took an old SU punch and punched out three scalloped circles from waste card
- love that |I could use waste up!

I followed a tutorial I found to wind the bakers twine around the edges - you can see in the black one I went several spaces over and got a tighter (smaller) centre

The black twine is one less and the white twine is less again
Really it was all serendipitous!

My button centers were the hardest to complete as I wanted to get the right ones
That is why the pink one has two bits - a button and some bling

I embossed my sentiment (SU) and added some extra bits of sparkle (SU)
The mount looked a bit bland so I ended up ruling a black line around and it just completed it for me.

Hope you enjoy seeing these and want to make your own flowers!

Why not try new ways of using bakers twine - OR, just use bakers twine and
enter your work at the challenge at

I will enter this in the following challenges:

Crafty Katz: Weekly challenge with twist - blooms

Week Three for Unstampabelles

The challenge this month at Unstampabelles is

Challenge#80: Flowers and more flowers
TWIST Bling it up!

Yes,there is a random number draw for a give-away

Today's DT piece is another card

My daffodils are just pushing their heads through the soil and are a long way off flowering but these from Joanna Sheen are nodding their heads already.

The die set and embossing folder came with a Joanna Sheen card kit and were good value.

Included in the kit were sheets of paper and lots of ideas and as my mojo has been angling for retirement lately I made good use of it all.

Photo's at various angles to give you the idea of the dimension

Hope to see you playing along with us at Unstampabelles.

I am not sure who to this shot of the new Hotel at the Wharf and of the Mawson statues but it is fabulous and it wasn't me. Love the soft colours - from memory it was taken on the last day of autumn.

Week Two for Unstampabelles

Just a quick post with photo's of the card I made for week 2 at Unstampabelles - the challenge goes for a month and the theme is Flowers and more Flowers! The twist is to bling it up a little!

Got to love a freebie - this flower die and butterfly and the embossing folder set were with a magazine I purchased last week and made into a quick card!

The sentiment is a rub-on

I used scraps to make the flowers......

A bit of mix and max......

I like the way the butterfly stands up
Also the embossing has been swiped gently with ink...

I added some bling!

Here is a quick look at the lovely winter days we have been having.....

The mountain, the Brewery (Cascades) - this is where the floods started last month!  Can you tell now? The stone facade is the only thing left standing of the brewery after the 1967 fires.

Ribbons and Lace for Crafting with Dragonflies

I am so late with this. I didn't do anything crafting yesterday but  gardened, lay on the couch, read and played with the cat. It was a beautiful day too - Weasley and I went for a walk on his lead - he leads.

Today I was running around catching up! It was also a beautiful day but I didn't get much time outside as I was washing and cleaning and cooking and then trying to craft in a hurry. The problem is I didn't do anything all last week either so I had no fallback! Dreadful!

Here is my card for Hilde at Crafting with Dragonflies. Photography is terrible as it was after sunset and in twilight outside using the reflected light through the kitchen window to try and get a good shot.

Ribbon, lace and gold twine

.......layering and layering......

Mounted on gold and then the shimmer card

The porcelain button from the stash!

There you have it - hope you can join in the fun for the fortnight at Crafting with Dragonflies.

Here is a photo I didn't take of a prickly little fellow - you would have seen him on Attenborough the other night perhaps?

WOW… a gorgeous echidna lunching on ants, in bushland just near Hobart, thanks to Kelvin Ball.

Flowers for Unstampabelles

Hello Peeps - it's June and it's winter already. I am keying this in while sitting over a heater trying to keep warm despite wearing a jumper (sweater).  It is a calm, blue day outside. There will be a pretty sunset tonight I think.

This photo was taken by Kate Sice, the owner of Botanical, my favorite flower shop in Hobart.
This is the outside of her shop one day last week, with the reflection of the old building over the road in her window.

Unstampabelles June challenge is Flowers and More Flowers
The TWIST is to bling it up!

I made a card....

I used my foil machine to create the fame and the sentiment

Commercially made flowers - not sure who made these or where I got them - I have drawers full of flowers and containers full of flower dies........ obsessed? Perhaps......these are made with white lace and tulle and are very pretty. The little pink ones came from D'Lish.....

The gold frame was foiled first and it embossed too as I had a thick  piece of card in the mix. However, when I tried to get the same result with the sentiment it didn't quite work as well.

Out of the direct light and taken with a flash the gold looks almost black in places

On to a Weasley tale (tail?)........

Last night about 9.30 he escaped outside when I foolishly opened the laundry door thinking he was not around. He leapt over my foot and ran down the back stairs to the garden. I did initially go after him but realised it was hopeless - I could not see in the dark!

However, I know he is a scardy-cat so I came back upstairs and closed the door a bit and waited - sure enough, five minutes later he is skulking at the bottom of the stairs and when I went and picked him up there was little resistance! I went to the laundry again this morning and he was at the door in a flash - trying to get out! He tried to tell me he was not planning an escape again.........

...I didn't believe him!

June is Busting Out All Over!

Hello Peeps - June huh! Well, over at Eclectic Ellapu the new challenge for June is ..........

Anything Goes

We know how much everyone enjoys these so craft away!

I made a cover for a little notebook I had using a Darkroom Stamp stamp set and some zentangling

I started with a small memo book

I took off the front cover, sliced the pages and then made a new cover. I then worked on this with the stamps and the zentangling, coloured it up and sprayed it before adding five holes and some ribbon.

My original design used some album rings but they were way too big so I had to resort to the ribbon

I added a bookmark with some ribbon and beads too

A close up of my zentangles

This is what the back looks like at the moment

I thought it might slip into my purse for quick notes, lists and reminders to myself
We will see how it survives.
I may still try to get some small rings rather than the ribbon

Anyway, there you have it - why not think about what you can do for Eclectic Ellapu in June?
