Be Thankful

Thank You cards are always useful. I make them a whim and then they sit until needed, when if I can,  I select the one that I think suits the personality of the recipient.  Hilde at Crafting with Dragonflies has requested 'Thankful' cards this fortnight for her challenge.

There are lot's of things I am thankful for
Living in Tassie is one of them.....

It’s hard to beat the untouched beauty at Binalong Bay

Back to my card.

I used a new Stampin' Up stamp and die set called Serene Garden

I tried my hand at embossing with a die as well

I used watercolor pencils to add the colour to the flowers and bird
Onto Whisper White and only a little water in the pen to limit the pilling

Some twine, and sparkles for interest

Detail on the bottom of the card

A square card blank was used
I quite like the final effect.....

Now it's off to your craft space and let us see what you can make from this challenge!

Some More Sparkle and Shine for October....

Over at Unstampabelles there is a Challenge running that requires you to use lots of Sparkle and Shine - or at least to use Gold and White - no, that is the TWIST: it is to use Golden Glitter and or Foils!

I made another card.

Here is my Golden Sparkle and Shine......

Butter wouldn't melt.....

We went away for 10 day's and he (Weasley) was staying in a Cattery - quite luxurious. He was well looked after but managed to loose about 400 grams and to become a clingy boy when he got home again!

I couldn't move for three days without him right at my feet and he slept under the covers with me most of the night, with one paw wrapped around my leg in case I moved.

Thank goodness he is almost back to normal - and no longer sleeping in the bed!
Still sleeps in me in the evening while TV watching....

My card is also sparkly and shiny and uses both glitter (card) and a foil

Firstly, I die cut a frame of squares - from Memory Box
Then I lines up some different card and put it behind the die cut
There are two different gold glitter's and one plain gold
This got attached to a card blank

I replaced five of the squares for a bit of interest
The foil sentiment was cut from a set of cards from American Crafts - Project Life - Snapshots
These cards have gold foiling on them
One card was dark grey and had the sentiment on it - you can just see the edge
I just fussy cut it from the card and attached to the middle of my card

I added the butterfly diecut for more interest

That's it.

You can go to Unstampabelles and see the rest of the month's work from the  DT
You have until Friday at midnight (AEST) to enter - there is a prize
Good Luck!

A Quick Post for Unstampabelles

It is week three at Unstampabelles for the current challenge:

Challenge#84

Golden Glitter/Foil - twist:use only white and gold

I have been away for 12 days and Weasley was put into a Cattery. He was well looked after but still managed to lose over 400 grms and I have had a shadow trailing me for the last three days we have been home. Early this morning he put himself down under the doona, at my feet with one paw on my foot...if I moved he moved.

We visited family in Melbourne and in Canberra. Lovely time in both cities. Both Grandchildren in Canberra are miles taller than me now - and well into Teenagehood......(GRUNT) ...... but they are gorgeous and so funny. Whatever you do, it is obviously soooo boring..... even if this is before we went to see the 'Road to Rome' exhibit at the National Museum. Actually, we were waiting for the parents to arrive before we went in......

Before I show you the card I tried to make quickly.....

No automatic alt text available.

This was meant to be a quick card.....I had got some mail while I was away.
A die that not only foiled but cut the silhouette out.

I decided to use it.....

However, I have obviously not got the right way of using it.
Here are two fails used together in the end,  as I just ran our of time and patience......

It is foiled sentiment and foiled image

One layered on the other......

.....different views.....

Crafting with dragonflies - Challenge#115 Pink or Breast Cancer Month

Many of us know someone or are someone who has had to deal with the diagnosis of Breast Cancer.

Image result for breast cancer ribbon

This challenge is to remember those who fought and those who are still fighting as well as those who will be diagnosed in the next year. We know that much research is making a difference both in treatment and length of life and that the more we keep this in the forefront the better the chance that a cure will be found. That does not denigrate all the other types of cancer and their research capability but recognizes that time is of the essence for all cancer cures.

At Crafting with Dragonflies we ask that you make a card in pink as a symbol of this cause.

My card is simple
It is made using all Stampin' Up items

I used some double sided adhesive to Whisper White and die cut the ribbon

I peeled one side and added glitter to the sticky side

I sprinkled it quite heavily and then pressed it in
I also die cut two words from gold, an oval  and got some pink card organised

I added them together as seen, plus some glittery dots and then sprayed them with gold spray

The shimmer is quite clear

Added to a card blank, this makes a great card for the cause

You can enter this challenge at

for the next two weeks.

Second Week at Unstampabelles

Unstampabelles has a new challenge for October

It involved using GOLD foiling and/or glitter
TWIST - to make it white and gold only

Of course I used my foiling machine to make the sentiment

You cannot use stamps for Unstampabelles but foiling plates are OK!

Then I used glitter tape, and card as well a some gold card and thread
I die cut three feathers

I added some clear beads to the ends of the gold thread and tied a bow

The gold strips were layered depending on size under the thread and feathers

White and varying shades of gold

That's all folks - we are away so hopefully this schedules well!

Challenge#84: Gold Glitter and/or Foiling at Unstampabelles

The TWIST is to work in Gold and White only........

I did at first think of using glitter......

Now if you have been reading this blog often you will know that I have a Foiling machine, so of course I had to use it!

I went straight to it for my first piece this month

The prize this month

I chose two foil plates - a border and a sentiment - and some gold foil

I hot foiled them onto the white card, and then mounted that onto some gold card

I added a flower and some white gold beads

A close up of the foiling.....

A CAS card but quite effective despite being simple.

We had a visitor in the channel this week........

WOW... having a whale of a time 🐳🐳🐳
